Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the efficient and accurate planning, scheduling, and capturing of maintenance and shutdown work. The Maintenance Data Capturer will be responsible for the upkeep of maintenance plans and will manage the master data within the planned maintenance system. The role is key to enabling the operation to run smoothly, with minimal downtime and optimal resource usage. This responsibility requires a highly organised individual who can maintain accurate records while coordinating effectively with internal and external teams.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Support
A vital task in this role will be linking new materials to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensuring updates on the SAGE system. The Maintenance Data Capturer will also be responsible for uploading new task lists and updating existing ones on the system. Maintenance plans will also need to be captured, updated, and accurately maintained.
Maintenance Scheduling
The person in this role finds and organizes what maintenance work is needed, working with repair people inside or outside the company. They make job requests and give supervisors lists of tasks to do. They order and follow up on items not usually in stock, making sure materials arrive on time. They also figure out how much jobs will cost, make weekly plans, and share those plans when necessary. This person keeps an eye on upcoming work and makes sure all job requests are planned well.
Contractor Management
This role includes optimizing the use of internal and external artisans for planned work. The Maintenance Data Capturer will need to create service entry sheets and ensure contractor attendance is verified ahead of scheduled tasks. The position will also include coordinating medical bookings and other requirements specific to the site. Furthermore, the role requires compiling reports to meet organisational and client needs while assisting with Health & Safety campaigns.

Educational Requirements:
A Matric (Grade 12) certificate or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate), is required for this role. A valid Trade Test Certificate will be advantageous.
Experience and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering planning or maintenance environment. Proficiency in English is essential for clear communication. Strong time management skills and computer literacy, particularly in MS Office, are also important. Experience with planned maintenance systems is critical for success in this position.
